PJI at the French Consulate “2406 Prytania Dialogue Series”

The Consulate General of France in New Orleans held their 5th Episode of the 2406 Prytania Dialogue Series to discuss where Louisiana stands on criminal justice reform. PJI Attorney, Caroline Tillman, participated on this esteemed panel with Pulitzer Prize winning journalists, John Simerman and Gordon Russell.

With Louisiana’s reputation as one of the most repressive states in the country, and with African American over representation in the prison population, the speaker series sought to answer how the criminal justice system in Louisiana impacts the lives of its citizens, especially the poorest and most marginalized.

The panelists discussed the state of the broken death penalty system, the non-unanimous jury system, and the status of the recent statewide legislative efforts to improve criminal justice in Louisiana.
