The Families of Victims and People on Death Row to Gather in Support of Clemency

On Tuesday, August 15th at 9 AM, a delegation of advocates including survivors of violence, victim’s loved ones, a death row exoneree, faith leaders, and family members of people currently on death row will hold a press conference calling for all 56 death row clemency petitions filed in June 2023 to be docketed and granted by the Board of Pardons, as the Board was directed to do in a recent letter by Governor John Bel Edwards. Advocates will thank Governor Edwards for his leadership and speak to the importance of clemency in Louisiana. A public petition with over 2,000 signatures supporting commutation for every death sentence will be hand delivered to the Governor's office following the conference.
