Legal Inquiries

The Promise of Justice Initiative is a private, non-profit organization that works to create positive change for people in the criminal legal system at the intersection of impact litigation, direct services and community engagement. Our tools include criminal and civil litigation, organizing, direct support, and policy advocacy.

We have a small legal staff responding to requests for assistance from people incarcerated throughout Louisiana. Due to our existing case obligations and the scope and focus of our work, we are generally unable to take on new cases or provide specific legal advice at this time. However, you are welcome to fill out the form below or write us a letter at the address below. If we are able to provide assistance, we will reach out to you directly.

In the meantime, here's a resource guide that includes additional information on organizations to contact for legal representation and advice, as well as other resources that might be helpful.

Please note: If you would like to tell us more information about an injury your loved one received while working in prison/jail, please fill out the form titled “Report a Work Injury” at the bottom of this page.
